Assam Current Affairs 2nd January 2018CM launches Chah Bagichar Dhan Puraskar Mela 2017-18  

Tinsukia, Jan 2 :Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal ceremonially launched the ‘Chah Bagichar Dhan Puraskar Mela 2017-18’ by distributing cheques to beneficiaries at a function held at Sarbananda Singha auditorium in Tinsukia .
  • Under the newly-launched scheme, steps have been taken to extend the fruits of demonetization to the people belonging to tea community who have already opened their bank accounts during the period of demonetization by crediting an amount of Rs 2500 in each of their accounts. Further, another Rs 2500 would be credited to the accounts which are uninterruptedly operated for six months from now in the next phase. 
  • It may be noted here that during demonetization period, altogether 6,58,250 tea garden workers opened their bank accounts and the State government would incur an expenditure of Rs 182 crore for giving financial incentives to all the account holders belonging to the community and similar amount would be released after six months,

Child scientist Barkha brings laurels to State  

DIBRUGARH, Jan 2: Barkha Gogoi, a Class VII student of Assam Vidyapith Higher Secondary School, Chabua, has brought laurels to the State by getting her project selected among the top 15 outstanding science projects in the 25th National Children’s Science Congress- 2017, a programme of NCSTC, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, held at Science City in Ahmedabad from December 27 to 31, 2017.
  • Barkha Gogoi along with Angshuman Dutta, Jintu Gogoi, Mrinmoy Gogoi and Gitawali Gogoi carried out the project on ‘Innovation of a study unit for differently-abled persons’ under the guidance of Jitu Prasad Gogoi.
